Prague next week by train - possible ?

Deutsche Bahn say they can't get me a booking for me and my my bike, from Amersfoort, to Prague, next week.

Or from Utrecht, or Rotterdam. via Berlin, or Frankfurt, or Stuttgart.

Would you take the chance and just turn up, or is there another way?

There are a great variety of well signed cycle routes you could follow from Amersfoort to Prague.

If you're leaving from Amersfoort, you have to book with Dutch Rail (NS) not Deutsche Bahn. Take a look at this site. Bikes have to be booked in advance and space is limited. But it seems to be possible.

Amersfoort was picked as there's a service to Prague via Berlin in a day. DB suggested it, but then said no bike availability from Berlin.

I'm hatching a Plan. Don't laugh.

I reckon I can pack my bike up in a plywood throw away box 1100 x 800 x 300. I'd stick my other luggage in a big holdall and sling it all over my shoulders.


Will I be able to slide that box into the luggage rack ? And are there any skips in Prague ?
