TVR's don't seem to interest him though!
My local garage, who work on my Saab, are also TVR/Lotus specialists and the garage was full of them ... he wasn't too interested.
Heck!!
Something wrong there, a kid not being overwhelmed by burbling V8s!!

I'd be on my knees drooling, I've wanted a Griffith since they were announced (especially the 500)
I had a 'TVR trackday' at Bruntingthorpe for my 40th, got to drive a Chimera, Griffith 500 & a Sagaris

Then it started to rain, so the instructor took me out in the Sagaris...... following a Murcialago into a corner, whch then overtook an Impreza out of the corner....
.
.
Then instructor overtook the Lambo...fish-tailing at 150MPH+................in the wet

Scary car, but fantastically fast, & superb through the corners

I've also driven a Chimera 450, Griffith 400, & Cerbera 4.2 on the road, but SWMBO decided we were going to buy that XKR instead

Still waiting for her to buy me a ('British Racing Green', with 'digestive biscuit' coloured leather) Griffith 500 though:whistle:

@Richard A Thackeray - they had about 20 TVR's, from a Tasmin right through to a Sagaris. They're called Aeromotive in Birstall.

You could take him to the Wales Rally GB in November. Much of it is North Wales this year so not so much of a hike for you. I realise it's too far off for his birthday, but he might enjoy it anyway.

If you're a TVR nut, you probably know this, but just in case you've never heard it...

"Legend has it that during the styling of the Chimaera, TVR boss Peter Wheeler's dog, Ned, took a bite out of one of the foam models. Wheeler decided that he liked the new styling feature and incorporated the recesses to house the front indicators."

Thanks for the suggestions. In the end I went for:

- Karting party for 5 9-year olds

- Ferrari passenger ride
- Trip to the hillclimb in August. I looked at the Goodwood Festival of Speed but a) it's too expensive and b) he's probably too young
- Book on 21st century cars
- Pair of mechanics overalls for a 9yo.

I liked the digital Scalextric but it was way too expensive; we've a family rule that birthday presents don't go over £150 in total.

Oh, and he does like bikes too. At Christmas he got a Decathlon Triban Junior road bike, which he's getting used to.

Just noticed the thread. Was going to say take him to a drag race when top fuelers and funny cars are there. There was nothing better when I was young. Just be sure to carry ear plugs, they shake the ground.
