Hello all,

I went for a ride last night about 23 miles in total, returned home soaked through, i left the bike out the back of the house and went for a shower and a clean up after bringing the bike in i realised i had a puncture...

I took the back wheel off and i immediatley noticed that the base of the presta valve had been rubbing on the metal of the wheel hole.

Is there a simple fix to stop this happening again ?

But i tell you what it's the first year i have swapped from off road MTB tyres to conti sport contacts and i did notice a difference when i put them on...

However, last night when the valve split i did not have a spare 1.0-1.3 tube so i had to resort to the old MTB back tyre and inner tube...when i got back on the bike this morning for my commute instantly i knew it was going to be a lot harder, by the time i got to work i had given my legs a thorough and demanding workout and for fitness and strength purposes i am considering going back to the bigger tyres for the intensity of the workout.

still, any members know of a quick fix for the presta valve rubbing against the wheel hole ?

I assume it's a presta valve in a schrader valve hole. You need to get some little grommits then as the hole is too big for presta, or 1.2 schrader valved tubes

Cut an old inner tube into squares about an inch on a side. Cut a small hole in the middle, and put this over the Presta valve.

I had a run of loud bangs from Specialized tubes letting go at the valve. I now carry plenty of these little squares in my toolbags.
