Hi, Steve,

27th is a definite possibility (or do I mean possibly definite?)

I wonder if I could do what that super-hero did who came with us on the last one? What was his name? You know, the one who started and finished in Bolton?

Like Colin said when i did the Manc to Blackpool ride i cannot remember anything of the Preston part which is really strange !
What I do remember is a worrying descent at Haigh Hall!

The road surface was greasy and covered in loose straw from straw bales which been placed to form chicanes to slow the cyclists down. Slow them down, they did - by causing many riders to crash! I saw what the conditions were like and immediately slowed to walking pace. Reckless riders were hurtling past me on both sides and paying the price.

It's why I worry about these big charity rides - thousands of inexperienced unfit cyclists taking to the roads at the same time. Many of them don't know how to ride safely, and they aren't concentrating properly because they are getting tired, dehydrated and hungry - dodgy!

My suggestion was to follow the route of the Manchester- Blackpool - after the Avenham park bit.

The real ride went down Schleswig Way bypassing Leyland which is pretty busy normally and along Cop Lane in Penwortham onto the docks that way
