As a non-meat or fish eating person, the only useful? contribution I could possibly make to this thread is that I tried it once in the dim and distant past and it made me throw up in extremis - gut rot stuff - bit like the pheasants that are hung up just until...

We had some organic venison steaks from Keswick market last week and I have to say it was the best meat that I have ever tasted. yum yum on the BBQ of course
£5 for 2 steaks as good and a cheap as rib eye and far healthier too!
Nearly as good as the Ostrich steaks from Aldi

Of course not!
I just happened to be sitting in the café and 'heard' the word venison...and that started me off.
Surely in this weather they must be rain deer?
