Reminds me of when I told a Kiwi I was proposing to eat possum and he said he knew a great traditional NZ recipe for them: "Take a big pan, add a couple of inches of water and a few rocks, bring it to the boil, simmer for an hour or so, then chuck out the possum and eat the rocks."
Many moons ago as a student at the Welsh college of horticulture there was a lad on my course from Zimbabwe, we knew him as Afro. They used to have a large "tropical" house there and in it was a prickly pears hat bore fruit. Af was well versed in how to pick one without getting prickled, so he did. I had my back to him..... "Here Dave catch", of course I turned and caught the bloody thing!
It took bloody hours and hours to get the spines out. Bloody stupid git!
