Erm crashes have always happened. Not sure how you protect all the broken bones. I don't think this year is any different than usual in the first week.

The average of Crashes today is way higher than ever in Pro Cycling yes the first week is a common thing but let's see how many more we have by the end of the tour ?

Helmets do not prevent crashes, nor do they stop shoulders being displaced or collar bones being broken.

Nor do they stop your spokes being broken.

Those helmets will not save you from idiot fans but maybe you could find some evidence to show wearing them isn’t encouraging riders to take more risks than is sensible.
