Probably the tattiest bike I've ever seen in use!

I think it is a testament to the quality of older bikes how many BSO's from supermarkets etc will still ridable when they look like that? and besides it might be something really special/classic in 'Stealth mode'

I was in London, down Brick Lane, a couple of years ago when a young guy rode past me on a bike with just a tennis ball jammed on the seat post as a saddle. So the one in PeteXXX's photo looks comfortable in comparison.

Looks like a Brooks saddle - how many miles do you have to put in to wear it down that much?!!

That's not so bad. Could do with a new saddle, but apart from that, remove chainguard & mudguards, bit of sellotape half way down the crossbar to tidy up the cables and - da da! - nice little pub bike. It's even got a stand 'n everything...

I think that this is subterfuge. The owner is clearly very proud of his brand new lock but doesn't want to leave it lying around until he's got a use for it, and so he attaches it to an old bike for safe-keeping!

I quite like that. It does need a new saddle but that is a quality item and with any kind of reasonable care will outlast anything to be found in a bike shop today.

Sports roadsters like that are usually very pleasant bikes to ride.

That saddle could be a cunning anti-theft device - perhaps the rider carries a cover with him....

or not!
How do you the owner is a male?
