Problem with Nero 9

Nero is failing to launch any of the CD/DVD burner programmes and is displaying this error message:



C:\Program Files (x86)\Nero\Nero9\Nero StartSmart\NeroStartSmart.exe

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side
configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or
use the command -line SXStrace.exe tool for more detail.

Any ideas as to how to fix it?

I'd save time by not bothering with a diagnosis and just uninstall & reinstall.

Or try Nero.exe instead and learn to use the full burner.

Thanks for the reply - I tried a load of system clean outs etc but to no joy- unfortunately the copy of Nero is at my brothers so I shall try and find an alternative burner for now as I need it for my work.

Bin it and use this It's free and easy to use without all of the Nero bloatware.

Try ImgBurn, less bloated and works well.
