Professor Heinz Wolff, off to the great lab in the sky

Professor Heinz Wolff has died.

He was a big influence on me as a teenager, making Engineering fun and accessable. It was a huge honour that he was my judge at The Young Engineer For Britain in 1984. He showed great enthusiasm for my and everyone else's projects and talked to the 17 year old me as an Engineer and an equal. I also have a friend who was lectured by him at Brunel and he has a deep fondness for the Prof.

A life in Science and Engineering well lived.

Wasn't he one of the professors who took part in the televised Royal Institution Christmas Lectures?

Enjoyed watching those as a child.

Looks like they are now on BBC Four.

On a more serious note, RIP Heinz, i was only young when the Egg Race was on but he was my idea of a proper mad professor.

It was sad to hear the news. He was very encouraging to all of the contestants in his Great Egg Race program and made it educational ,humorous and enjoyable to watch.
