If you read around a bit, our Ralph seems to be a professional "character" in the narrowboat world. And by character I mean ****.

Well I certainly hope nothing untoward happens
to Ralph Freeman's boat "The Nobber" moored up his own @rse.
Ralph needs to declutter. There, I've said it! So ban me!

People have to accept responsibility for what they write. If I published an article advocating assaulting people, I would be prepared for the consequences of my actions.
As someone who regularly rides Leeds Liverpool canal, showing courtesy to other towpath users, this clown has attempted to legitimise assaulting me.
Any untoward consequences he may suffer for this have been brought about by his own nastiness and stupidity.

Reading between the lines, I reckon they must've had some issues with people chasing Strava segments on canal paths. Now threats of violence are unacceptable, but I think most of us on here would agree that people who chase Strava times on shared paths are nobbers, no?

Certainly they are. Does Strava have a facility to remove segments in inappropriate places?

I think other users can mark segments as hazardous.

You can flag them but they don't often stay removed for long. Personally I think the wannabe sailors have a point, the speeds I see some cyclists travelling on canal paths and they way they try to barrel through make me want to shove a few into the drink.

According to an email I just received from the editor it was a tongue in cheek article, most people are taking it that way but he had second thoughts about running it.
