I think we have established that he does most of is writing drunk. And his rather weak, woeful and wandering riposte...

I'm minded not to feed the troll on this occasion.
Wonder if these guys would like an email with a link to the article.....

Haven't been following this thread, just mildly surprised to see it still running day after day, but I have to say I'm a little rueful about the all but complete absence of any messages recognising that the original author has a point.
Not, needless to say, that that excuses his 'article'. But if cyclists are actually using towpaths the way he describes - hurtling down them at speed, shouting at people to get out of the way, to beat times, regardless of the needs or safety of others using them - then that is a shameful, disgraceful way to behave. No-one should use towpaths that way, and I can't say I'm surprised at the tone of the original article if they do.
I don't suppose the original author has any problem with people using the towpaths to cycle on, per se - I'm sure he'd be happy to share them with cyclists behaving considerately. His beef is with those who apparently use them as racetracks, and I can quite understand why. And like I say, it disheartens me that as far as I can see from my dippings-in on this thread, 14 pages have gone by without anyone acknowledging it.
