Went on a club ride a few months ago, my first one.
Is it usual for clubs to insist that all riders wear bright tops/gilets?

no, that would be very unusual.

i think a lot depends on the club. ours has no rule about what to turn up in/on for a club run, others demand full club kit (in good nick)…
I think you have hit the nail on the head, every club is different .
My CC is not to bothered as long as the kit is serviceable they would rather you turn up than not at all.

I don't know of any club that demands that you turn up for a club run in full club kit - can you name a club that does? Presumably that club is closed to new members, as logically they would never get any..?

this was a Tri club as opposed to a cycle specific one and one specific leader. I've decided tri isn't for me. I like the individual disciplines, not all together.....
So before I look at cycle clubs, I thought I'd ask the question.
Seems strange when you think about tri clothing... 2XU, MoreMiles etc..... it's all black

A club can make any rules it wants.
British Cycling also specify rules re club kit when competing in events.
