A new Academy of Sacred Music opens tonight in Glagow. At last somebody it taking action to promote inspirational music in churches and counter the ghastly banality of the Graham Kendrick school of music, which has done so much damage to Christianity. I'm seriously thinking of jumping on a train to attend as it's not too long from Preston to Glesgae by rail.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Hmmmm....

The RSCM has been around for quite a long time. And I'm struggling to remember the details, but I think both Glasgow and Edinburgh have got professional (or nearly so) choirs in their Episcopalian cathedrals/big churches.

i am going to say a very un christian thing now. Graham Kendrick should be taken outside and shot. happy fecking clappy rubbish. nothing wrong with a decent mass, or a good old methodist service with proper Wesleyan hymns ( I am Welsh ) but not that tripe written by Graham fecking Kendrick

I've had to look him up. Even worse, I've had to listen to some of the stuff on his website.

My taste in church music is rather narrow - Palestrina, Byrd, Tallis, Victoria, even Bach when I'm feeling dangerously modern - but I can tell offensively simple-minded bland tosh when I hear it. If I was a believer I would want something which at least had some content, some muscularity .... not sales jingles for blancmange.

One of my customers stocks Christian music as part of his shop stock, i'll ask him how this Graham Kendrick guy sells and if he would like to launch him off a very high building
