PTSD: I'm not sure I like this time of the year ....

Several times in the last few days and twice in the last few hours I've been walking/cycling innocently along when an explosion has gone off suddenly in close vicinity. I think I kept it calm on the outside, but on the inside I was looking for the nearest cover and thinking "this is it. this is how you die" A moment later I realise there's beautiful falling sparks overhead, and it was just a firework, but the adrenaline coursing through my veins says otherwise - that I nearly died.

That, combined with being a cultural Catholic makes the whole thing a bit creepy to me. Yeah, I've been Lewes a few times, and being in a crowd baying for the death of a Pope (Clement VIII, I think, but still) is very disturbing.
