I had one a few years ago that really annoyed the hell out of me. I'd already had a spate of crappy drivers come too close and not far from home I was travelling uphill at speed and a lady in an estate cut around me trying to make a left turn. I only JUST managed to stop in time, perhaps thanks to the effect of gravity on my wheels.

So I screamed at this lady, completely lost my rag and demanded to know what in the name of living hell she thought she was doing. She stopped across my path. She put up her hands and gestured an apology but I hadnt finished. "How can you not F***ing see me you blind, stupid F***ing woman!!? Am I not f***ing big enough at six foot two and 14 stone with bright yellow all over my f***ing body!!!!?"

Meekishly she gestured to let me go on. "How can I??! You're sat in my f***ing way, blocking the f***ing road!!!? Go on! Get out of my sight!!" She drove off and I turned around to see if it was safe to move off and see a little old couple sitting in their car behind in absolute shock.

Sometimes I think it just comes flooding out, esp on bad days with really bad drivers. I can see an airhorn might work in some circumstances as long as you can control the bike.

Whilst I can't really say I agree with road rage, with any luck she will look a little harder for cyclists next time (as possibly will the couple behind you).

I honestly don't know what it is about being in a car where you're sealed off from the outside that makes people forget about the world around them. From people who chuck rubbish out their window (but wouldn't drop litter in the street), to folk who pay no heed whatsoever to other road users be they cyclists, pedestrians or gorram buses.

I confronted a woman who overtook me and turned left in front of me once.

She turned left into a car park so I followed her in. She had really seriously cut me up so I asked her what she thought she was doing and had she even seen me?

She then said that I had "indicated that she should pull around me"

By this I can only presume that she meant when I saw her car pulling up alongside me, indicating left - completely parallel with my bike - my feet stopped peddling as I looked around in disbelief that she was going to do the manoeuvre.

I pointed out to her that there was no signal on earth that would indicate that I wanted her to pull around me and turn left in front of me and that what she did was incredibly dangerous!

She retorted that I was a stupid cow and should not be on the road!

At the time I was perched right by her Renault Megane with my old shopping bike and metal basket - the temptation to "accidentally" run the metal basket down her paintwork as I backed away (from the idiot) was nearly overwhelming!!!

Had one of these years ago. Was perfectly visible (well lit, light colours, reflectors) approaching a side road, car behind me flashes for the car at the junction to pull out, which it does, right into the side of me. Totalled my old Sun Super 5. Got a new bike out of the idiot who pulled out, although her employer tried to get out of that, the old 'okay then, see you in court' put paid to his evasions.
