It's a PUNCTURE. P-U-N-C-T-U-R-E. There is no such thing as bliddy fairies!
Good; I'm glad to get that off my chest.
My reward for not believing in fairies is that I had a PUNCTURE last night. 7pm, wet, windy, dark; so just the usual conditions for a puncture. Unfortunately I wasn't carrying tyre levers, and I doubt if even Park Tools patches would have been much help. On top of all that I didn't have my pump with me, and in any case it might have taken a while to get this up to 110 psi, even with my favourite Lezyne.

Due to my lack of tools I had to call out a tyre fitter, who took over an hour to arrive, and then another hour to fit a new tyre. As a result I didn't leave Aberdeen airport until 9pm, and still had a 3.5 hour drive to Glasgow airport - all of it in the wind and rain, while listening to the second half of Scotland being gubbed by England. Not the best Friday night out I've ever had.

The tyre:

The angle of the photo makes it look not too bad, but it actually had 35 psi in it, rather than the 110 required. I wasn't going to chance running with it and having a blow-out on the A90 at 50'ish MPH. Better to be a bit late in this world, than years early into the next one - as my wise old Uncle used to say.
i can remember carrying a spare and being expected to fix our own, fannies these days just sit in the cab playing with their phones.
Certainly can't risk a front blowout, never had one on the front but they can be serious.
Aye, had it been a trailer tyre I might have chanced it since I was only carrying 10 tonnes, but no way was I driving with that on the front axle. I don't think the office were happy when I phoned to let them know, it seemed like "You've been sitting in Aberdeen for 4 hours, why didn't you notice it earlier and it could have been fixed by now...." Yebbut; I didn't have 10 tonnes of freight on the trailer then, to weigh it down - oh, and I was sleeping! ^_^.

Truck tyres are usually a 90 minute call out, half an hour to change and inflate, then 45 minutes for re-torque.

Such is life.
