Would it help if I changed it to "Mauve Maeve"? How about "Violaceous Viola"?

Or what about "Bruised Plum"? Now there's a bike name that has some resonance!

You are correct, it was an early basecoat and clear.

In Australia, one of Ford's colour options for the big 70 era Falcons was a metallic purple called Plum Dinger. We're all class in the Antipodes.

Well first dry day where we both had time so we took Purple Ronnie out for his inaugural ride: a sedate 15 miler to a garden centre and back.
Mrs mikeymustard, after being used to a near 18kg (yeah that's right ) two-wheeled tank, shot off on Ron like she'd been excused gravity for the day!
Only a couple of issues: the rear derailleur didn't always change cleanly (and she's a bit mutton so couldn't hear it clacking) and her left wrist was causing her gyp from having broken them both back in February.
Otherwise it was a big purple hit
