As dangerous and as stupid (naive ? ) as they can be I could just about forgive kids but late teens is not really kids!

Agreed. I was thinking more along the lines of 12 or 13.

Tbh, late teens, I'd have been wondering whether it was wise to chase them!

I only got the first name of one of them and I don't know if he was lying. I couldn't say which one of the three actually pushed me off, although it was a bit of a combined effort, so I don't think there'd be much chance of a conviction.

I think this sort of thing is now becoming prevalent. I've had my share of run in's with drivers where I know where I stand but kids are a different matter. I was pushed last year, alongside a very busy road, seeing my approach, some lads came to the kerb, the girls held back. Straight away I know what is going to happen, but what do you do? I stared at them, told them "not to even think about it", but one kid did push me, I simultaneously managed to crack him in the chops and drop him.

The howls of indignation from these kids had to be heard to believed as they fumbled for their mobiles to call the cops!

Thats a red rag to a bull unfortunately but good come back  I hope the cops seen the funny side. I must admit I tend to avoid kids who look like they are up to something by being in a more central position and they'd have to deal with traffic before they could push me. All I've had to deal with on the road touch wood is the hilarious 'boo'

Nowadays however I tend to avoid cycle paths as they seem to be enclosed magnets for prats. Touch wood again nothing too serious has happened, kids find it hilarious to block the road or pretend to shove me or shout 'boo' as I pass. In a less than desirable area, I've had a massive branch thrown at my front wheel but fortunately I was going fast enough that it just bounced of my spokes. Behind another great area (Muirhouse) I've had eggs thrown at me but again I've been going fast enough so none of them actually contact. Unfortunately for them, it also helps if you are overtaking a slower cyclist. On my last ambush kids started to throw eggs at me but missed but were soon distracted by an easier target.

The only one I've had from kids as pedestrians was when riding down a local road at school knocking out time. I'm indicating left with the arm out and a kid tries to hi-five me. I batted his hand away, stopped and told him not to mess with f***ing traffic before he hurts himself. I think he felt my body weight through his shoulder and I hope he learned a lesson, I do feel that had he succeeded in the hi-five both of us could have gone down due to the road surface etc.

Most of the trouble I ever have with kids is running out into the road. I usually plan for this by position, speed and looking more

Sorry to ask but was you on the pavement ?

I have a friend who is not confident enough for the busy roads we have here and does tend to stick to cycle routes but sometimes has to venture on to the (wide) pavements we have here.....perhaps not right but it does in no way justify someone pushing anyone of the bike.

I have had a battred sausage chucked at me by kids standing at the road side... and a bottle of Buckfast from a moving car!

The other fashion is for leaning out and screaming loudly in your face. A friend of mine was doing the Night Walk in Brighton and some very drunk girls did this to her - she found it extremely upsetting. What's the matter with some people?
I did the moonwalk around London two years ago and was sexually assaulted (boobs squeezed) as we passed a nightclub, by one of the lads outside. Admittedly I am a man and was wearing a 50 GG bra with two balloons in them at the time! I also got more complimentary comments than most of the women.

Oh come on! That (and the chucking things as others have said) is hardly new!

Part of the problem is that these kids think they're being innovative and different (just as they did when it used to happen to me, thirty years ago ).

I had the egg throwing. Unfortunately it was from a car coming in the opposite direction as I was going downhill.
My 30mph and the cars 40mph make a nice impact speed! Took 2 weeks for the bruising to go down. I was crouched over the drop bars, so it just missed my chin and hit my left shoulder.
I stopped, for a second wondering what the hell had just happened. The guy in the car must have thought it was hilarious as he found somewhere to turn round and shout as he passed,
Unfortunately for him he didn't realise that by this time I was on the moby to a 999 operator and was able to read out his reg as he passed.
I was later told that they'd collared him for this and other offences and he was pleading guilty to dangerous driving.

I got smacked in the chest whilst riding home through Wolverhampton by a girl! (Probably around 18yo). Her and a male companion were crossing the road ahead of me. Way ahead, I should add! When she saw me coming, she just stopped in the middle of the road! It wasn't a main road. Just an access road to the theatre and a couple of bars. I gave her a wide berth as she was making ridiculous noises and grimmacing at me. Just as I was about to go around her, she reaches out and smacks me in the chest! Thankfully, I didn't come off. Looking back, I wish I'd have called the police. I'm sure that street is heavily CCTV'd, so some action may have come of it.
