Q/R Front Wheel

Ok, I've decided I hate the wheels that came with my singlespeed so I'm going to change them. I can see why the rear wheel can't (well probably can with caveats) be QR but are there any issues I should watch out for if I just switch my front wheel to a QR one I have spare from Lelly (Ti road bike)?

None whatsoever, it's just a wheel.
I have known people to use Q/R on a rear fixed, but it has to be a steel Q/R skewer.

The red fixer which met an untimely death on a roundabout had a QR front wheel. Do it.

If the front wheel comes out frequently (for transportation, say) it makes a lot of sense to use QR. The back wheel is a bit more risky if you have horizontal drop outs but you should be OK if this is a single freewheel rather than fixed.

Thanks all. Decent front wheel is going on this weekend, will see how much to get my existing rear rim moved onto a singlespeed hub too.

Ok no idea what that is. I'm going to use my 105 hubbed on with Shimano skewer.

I'm reasonably sure they've been doing that for a few years anyway.

Ah ok. The ones I have are enclosed CAMs. However one cause for concern is the lack of "lawyer lip" although I do have the two fiddly washer things that have a hook into the fork.

I'd have thought that the lack of lawyers lip is more a cause for celebration than concern. It means the QR is actually Q, and not a FR (faff-release)

Unless you are intent on not tighten ing it up properly that is.

And you said my red rims were a travesty!!!!

I shall be moving to standard looking hubs, silver spokes and normal rims. I don't really need deep, aero rims on a singlespeed.

Update: fitted my Q/R front wheel and the bike already feels better to ride. The skewer does seem to stick out further through the nut than it used to be no big deal. Just waiting for my rear wheel from the bike shop now and the whole thing will ride like a dream I think!
