Do the OLED/QLED manage tearing better, that's the only thing that still irritates me about modern tv's and was a big step back from plasma.

Can't speak for TV's but my Note 8 is crystal when set to quad HD streaming 1440 @ 60FPS

Agreed. My first Samsung phone was the Galaxy S2 which like all my phones have heavy use. Passed to my mum after the contract expired and is still going strong after 7 years. None of the Samsung products I've owned have gone wrong and neither have any of my familly/friends.
My Galaxy S4 failed spectacularly.

Mind you, I did give it a helping hand ... I had left it on a kitchen worktop, turned to pick it up and accidentally swatted it across a hard tiled floor!

Bloody Samsung phones - can't take a high-speed drop from 3 feet onto an unforgiving surface ...

The only problem I have is when companies update software to slow your phone/TV/computer which then encourages you to buy a new one.

When Windows computers used to slow down, it could be due to malware or registry growing too large .A re-install solves the problem but it was left up to you when. You want to buy a new computer.

But with phones, it's different. It's almost as the obsolecobsol of the product is planned....

Ouch!

I had the most amazing narrow escape with my replacement phone. I forgot to pick it up when I went to the shops and guess where I had left it? Yes - on the same kitchen worktop...

I returned from the shops and as I opened the door the phone rang. I had it on vibrate and it 'walked' itself across the worktop towards the edge. I ran forward and caught it just as it fell towards that same hard, tiled floor!

My S8 has been knocked out of my hand, butter side down onto a concrete floor this morning. Expecting the worst but its survived unscathed thank god!.

Turn automatic updates off and don't allow OS updates :okay:

Like them or not, it's a personal choice, but the fact is that Samsung used to use cheap parts that failed easily (maybe they're better now they're joint ventured with Sony and technically neither make their own screens). They were forced in the US and some other countries by the courts to replace many circuit boards and faulty screen tabs and capacitors even if the boards hadn't failed - this included costs of shipping.. Yet here in the UK there was no such judgement and they wouldn't replace crap..... My old TV was top of their then range, circuit boards failed after 13 months - I replaced parts and later screen tabs began to fail, which cannot be fixed properly... Also my Samsung American style fridge freezer had a call back on it and had to have parts fitted.. That's 2 big appliances (the only ones I had)... And I think we all know apple are bad with build quality of so e ranges, and about samsung phones turning into fires... That's cheap lipo batteries for you...

Disagree all you like, but put yourself where I am and you'd be crazy to think Samsung is a quality brand..

I can see where you're coming from and that's fair enough, I would think the same in your situation.

We've probably had 6 Samsung Phones, 2 LED TVs (recently bought one for my son), Samsung DVD and now Blu-ray player, the old Virgin Media V+ box was Samsung and none of them have gone wrong.
