Hi all, not sure what section to post this in so I've posted it in this one seeing as many of the regulars cycle in the capital.
I go up to London once or twice a week for work and this year I've been noticing lots of strange square boxes placed over some traffic lights. They're not at every set of lights and seem to be concentrated around the West End, although I've seen them in other parts of London too.
Sometimes they're over the green and amber lights for road users, and other times there's one placed over the green pedestrian light. There doesn't appear to be any logic to how they're placed; it seems pretty random to me.
Here's one: http://maps.google.c...156.15,,0,-0.35
Does anyone know what they're for? To reduce glare from the sun, perhaps?
I have to say I find them quite irritating, particularly when walking around the city, as it means you can't see the light at all unless you're facing it from a particular angle.
