i with the quick wipe down with baby wipes,quick run through on the chain and quick lube ready for the next days ride(if its been a wet ride) dry ride commute leave till days off and qive it all a quick clean(road racer mk2 mudguards fitted so keeps a lot of the filth off)

I fall a little bit more in love with my bikes every time I clean them.

Some things I've learned over the years:

• Cleaning becomes a swift and easy joyful task if you invest in a bike stand, no more back pain.
• Forget complicated difficult to clean chain cleaners, cut half the length of bristles off a one inch paintbrush, stiffens it up and is great for chain, cassette and difficult to reach parts of chainrings and brakes.

Another vote for a quick wash or at least a wipe after every ride.

To avoid rust stains I try never to leave the bike damp.

Easy with the Brommie because I bring it into the kitchen where it dries at room temperature.

And if you can't afford a bike stand and you have a clothes line that will do it (iehorizontal steel arms) then hang the bike on the arms of the clothes line. Hook your handlebars over the bars of the clothes line and it just hangs there showing all the bits that need cleaning, right at eye level.

I have heard that if you wax the painted parts of the bike with car wax then the dirt hoses off much easier, and won't stick as much when it hits the bike. I've tried it but I'm not 100% convinced yet. Doesn't seem much difference to me.

wax my bikes and i must admit the dirt does appear to come off a bit easier.

more or less the same here - wash the mud/salt/crap off whilst it is still wet and easy to get off. don't use GT85, but just quickly mickle the chain and lube lightly, wipe off excess and put bike away dry. Do a thorough clean about once every 2 weeks in winter on the road bike. the mtb usually is that dirty by the time I have finished with it that it needs a good clean each time...

I like the clothes line idea - all I need now is a clothes line...

I've been pretty good cleaning mine after most outings. Have been cleaning and lubing the chain too prob about every three outings. Bike went for a service last weekend and the guy said I need to pay more attention to cleaning and oiling my chain as it was not in a very good condition. I'm obviously not doing it right. To be honest the bike is only three months old, I did think even if I never cleaned it how bad could a new bike have got in that short space of time
