R.I.P John 'A Beautiful Mind' Nash

Rollin' along
Manchester way
Knew the name from the film. He sounds like he was a fascinating character

When I was studying for my masters in maths and computing I read a number of his papers and he was a genius that managed to think like nobody else. His 40 year battle with mental illness makes his death even more tragic. RIP John and Alicia Nash.

Quite dreadful
lost somewhere
A childhood friend who I played with at nursery school turned into a brilliant mathematician and went on from Cambridge University to the US and academic acclaim. I asked him , years later, what he actually did. He replied " There are only five people in the world who have the faintest idea", and he wasn't bragging.
He also said that most brilliant mathematicians lose their original genius by the age of thirty.
