That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread title, used to love watching it as a kid.

It's a long time since I read it, but from recall the sections in his book pertaining to him bottoming out with his drink were pretty grim.

I was surprised to see him in Roman Polanski's Macbeth. He was bollock naked, but he was only about 11 at the time. I think he was playing MacDuff's son.
