Sad news - for many years LotSW was one of the funniest shows on the box, before age sadly took it's toll on the cast and the scripts. The extended Christmas specials of the early 80's are especially worth keeping an eye out for.
First of the Summer Wine was a great idea, but was never really given a chance by the BBC, but it saw Peter Sallis play his own dad in a prequel set in the 1930s.
Of his less well known work, an ITV mini-series "Come Home Charlie and Face Them" was another memorable performance from him.
And of course, to millions he was Wallace. Every single Wallace and Gromit was a classic and something I can watch time and time again.
