Larger than life, entertaining, opinionated (?), self proclaimed: more like self made (And good for him for that)…..never did me any harm. RIP Sir 🕵🏻♂️
The motoring expert was known as a national treasure, offering his services not only as a journalist, but a television presenter and producer, author, and campaigner.
Thats the chipwrappers stated opinion.
His family may have said it but certain sections of the lightweight media are also saying it themselves.
Sad news, but on seeing him on an online video the other month, I thought he'd lost weight and didn't look too well. I'll always think of him as a chap with thinning, brylcreemed back hair, a cravat, tweed sports jacket, flannel trousers and driving an old classic car with a very big/powerful engine! That was quite a look and a decent one to be remembered by, I'd say!!🧐🍻🥂
Played a great role in making Top Gear cool again as the Castle realised that people didn't want to hear William Woolard bleat on about the size of gloveboxes.
Loved his smooth 'man in the trade' persona although he had the look of a man whose lifestyle was very much 'here for a good time, not a long time'.
