Rain, rain and more rain!

We've had days of on/off rain here in The Lakes (SW bit) and right now we have a monsoon going on.

I've got a spare bike so maybe a turbo trainer is in the offing...

The joys of the Lake District. The place is still lovely even when it's wet though.

I suspect the farmers and gardeners round Shropshire would like to share some of that rain. We've had a little bit the last few days but it's still very dry everywhere. I've only cut the lawn twice since May.

Crikey that's pessimistic.

We're about 30m above 'our' river that is around 40-50m from the house and down a rocky gorge, looks fab' when in spate. Although my long gone dog once jumped in and got stuck in a whirlpool for ages. Thought he was a gonner tbh but he eventually dragged himself out.

Stop bloody whingeing. . My fish pond was half empty due to lack of rain and the stream dried up altogether. Now that we have had rain the stream is running again and we have been pumping water back into the pond. Hoorah. The fish are happy (if fish can be happy that is) with the oxygen levels.

Surprisingly not much in Manchester. Just got soaked by heavy drizzel whilst on the bike but had to leave the waterproof off as long as possible as it was too warm whilst climbing. Just one shower so far. My garden needs it. The tracks and trails were nice and grippy, but descending a rocky track when your glasses have steamed up from the previous climbs is a bit hairy.

Starting to get a bit more rain here as well and it almost made me rethink my commute this week but I would hate to let one good summer turn me soft so shorts and waterproof jacket for me at the moment but usually have to discard that half way there.

Just watching a Welsh farming programme and I've just seen a clip of real rain.

As we speak, I have 5 cycling rain jackets in the washing machine, being given the Nikwax wash-in treatment in preparation for the rain. Getting completely drenched yesterday on the way home from the European Championships (men's road race in Glasgow) was the catalyst. Not that I cycle in the rain normally; but sometimes it can't be helped. Thank you summer, it was good while it lasted!

I got wet last Thursday on a ride, first time in months, but it was dry when I got home, today I couldn't decide on guards or no guards, the weather forecast said showers, I went with no guards, managed to stay dry, but coming back through Aberford one end of the village was dry, the other end had experienced a right soaking, the roads were wet the rest of the way home{about 10 mile) but no showers.

We have had a few showers tonight, the grass is losing its beige tint and gaining a green hue.

Got thoroughly soaked, top to toe, and covered in road grime yesterday due to the rain.
Today has been more heavy showers, persistent at times but I've managed to dodge them - more by good luck than anything else.

The good news is that they're already saying that after a few more days of this the heatwave will return. Then we can get back to complaining about how it's too hot
