Coming back from marshalling a time-trial after work yesterday.

Whoa! incredibly heavy, and warm, rain. Felt great. I was sort of disappointed that I'd ridden a bike with mudguards, the full effect of the spray from the rapidly-flooding roads would've added to the experience.

Probably no more than 20 minutes of rain, and the standing water had drained away when I went back out 10 minutes after it stopped.

Nice!

It was such a warm day yesterday, I shunned my cycling jacket when it started bucketing down on the way home. Rather just get wet than hot and wet!

Its funny (strange) when you ride in really heavy rain as its like, 'what the hell your wet anyway so what difference does it make', type of thing.

Been there this weekend - but pushing my MIL in a wheel chair - did the 100m dash (after permission from the wheel chair rider) to go for it... we all laughed - blooming mad - did have to check I didn't launch a 79 year old into the air when I ran for it with her in the chair.... - new para-olympic event - running with the MIL over 100m in pissing rain !!!!

We all laughed...... poor MIL is recovering from a stroke - don't think she's ever gone that fast, on two feet or in a chair !!!

I love summer rain. It's like when you were kid and jumped in the pond at the local park. After an hour or so you are so dry your mum never knew you'd got wet anyway so she didn't have to worry about you dying of pneumonia.

Took my three little girls out today. 5 year old on her first 3.5 mile ride, with the 3 year old twins in the bike buggy. Seemed like a good idea at the time! Got to the playground and then the heavens opened – had so much fun on the way home – twins nice and dry in the buggy while us 2 were drenched to the bone within seconds – daughter no 1 did a slow motion fall off into a deep puddle and couldn’t stop laughing because she, in her own words, “got no wetter” after falling in. Twins thought it looked like so much fun they got out of the buggy and jumped in as well! Chucked them all in the bath when we got home followed by hot chocolate in front of cbeebies. Said it was their favourite ride to date!
