There's rain and theres Heavy Rain !

About 3/4 mile from home if that feeling ok, It was raining but all nice and dry happy. Suddenly it absolutely pours down. It was so hard it was stinging my legs through my waterproofs and longs ! In 30 seconds my feet were swimming and face was just dripping. I had just put my gloves on about 5 minutes before and I got home and just dumped everything in the sink.

Still my new Altura jacket is really nice and at least the jacket and trousers did the job. Still need to sort out footwear though.

Had similar a few weeks back - a quick but blasting downpour.

Had my waterproofs in the pannier, pulled in across the road and ducked under an alcove, put them on as quick as possible, and lo and behold, pulling out, BOTH sets of traffic stopped instantly to wave me out and get me on my way as quick as possible.

Which was nice and reminded me that cars don't have thoughts, they are piloted by people, and not all people are impatient, self obsessed and arrogant.

It sort of made my day

Well I managed to wear about 4 different cycle jackets yesterday - put on a dry one each time I went out... and on one of the journeys I noticed that my favourite jacket started leaking at the elbow after only 5 mins ... so time to replace it - and it can join the spares pile.

Summer rain isn't bad, but just wait til November / December. Shivering your tits off isn't very therapeutic.

By the time the winter comes heavy duty waterproofs aint that bad to wear. Its still boil in the bag but for short distances you're usually fine (and warm too).

Man did I get wet yesterday. In and out. I rode past a lad on a road bike but with a cagool thingy on, and thought I'd show solidarity as I passed.. "Loverly weather aint it mate!" He just looked at me as if he was about to cry.

On the way home there was a young lad on a bike, no waterproofs, school uniform completely soaked. Felt quite sorry for him, but I reckon he had a coat in his bag the way it was stuffed. He prolly thought "this wont last" and took a chance.

I think that I was the only person out cycling for pleasure yesterday afternoon. I only met one person along the river bank, she was walking her very reluctant dog, who looked most grateful when I stopped for a chat as he crawled under her umbrella.

The peeps in my LBS just shook their heads when I walked in and rested my mud-laden, dripping machine against their shiny new metal.

My choice of clothing was t-shirt and Altura waterproof jacket with polycotton trousers. On a 60 minute off-road run in that weather, I'm going to get wet, whatever, so I wear stuff that at least washes and dries quickly.

Yep,Friday was a tad damp ! It's been a long time since i've had to pour the water out of my shoe's but it's still fun......unlike the wind !

I don't get wet too often, even though it's rained nearly every day since the end of July. The worst one was thunder, lightning & torrential rain on the day that someone decided to nick my lights: I had a 3 hour walk home on unlit country lanes

I must have had the best timing ever last night. It rained from 4pm all the way through to 10 minutes before I left work (about 10pm) it drizzled very lightly on the way home. I got inside and it hammered it down again.
