Right so I'm in week 5 of commuting by bike 7 miles each way twice a week with a ride at the weekend.

Feeling better but do feel tired at times and not sure if I will ever get to doing this 5 times a week even though I want to! I do the 7 miles in 30-35 mins pending on weather conditions.

Am I missing something or will the tiredness go the longer I do this..? Bearing in mind I done nothing before..

Cheers Dave

You're not missing anything- it's your body getting used to it, listen to your body if it asks you to rest and you'll find it will get stronger!

It takes a little while to build up. And if I have a few weeks off the first week back is harder. Why not give the third day a go one week when the sun is shining and you want to be on the bike.

I used to do a similar commute, 7m in 7m back, you will get to doing 5 days it just takes time. As previously said it will get better, I used to do extra on my way home when the weather was nice

Just take it easy on your commute. No need to go hell for leather with a 7 mile commute, well not yet anyway. Build it up over time and by the end of the summer you will be flying along.

same time and distance that i staterd off with about 2 year ago, occasionaly i still get the tired feeling, it just depends how much excercise you are doing overall, sometimes you feel knackered, sometimes you fly home. Keep it up, im sure you will be up to 4/5 days a week by the summer.
I find it hard now when i have to take the car to work, really pee's me off, as id rather be on the bike.

Pretty much the same distance and timings as my own commute..... You should get used to it pretty quickly (it was about a month - 6 weeks before I was doing every day..... I now take the car less than once a week (if I have to get home quicker or need to get something on the way home.....) takes me 30 mins on bike but 20 mins in the car due to traffic.... I hate it when I drive in

What they said.

Just keep at it, it will get easier but then you will push it more and it'll get harder again.

Same here 7 miles each way. I never consider taking the car now. It takes about the same time for me as the car due to traffic and where the car park is located. As has been said before, pace yourself. Good luck.

30-35 minutes is a pretty good time, IMHO. Takes me about the same to ride five miles.

It will get easier - before you know it you'll hardly notice the distance (except with a headwind and rain). But as others have said, you get bad days and good days. Yesterday I practically floated to work, today felt like a bit of a slog.
