Raleigh Gran Sport

Hi all,

I have picked up an interesting project this week. Raleigh Gran Sport, which may well be over 60 years old. I had a blue one a few years ago; This one isn't in as good condition, but still nice. Campag stuff on, front wheel and brake calipers have been changed at some point.

Brooks saddle is coming along, and rear wheel looks better than when I took the pics. A few letters and numbers on the bottom bracket; 81267 AF 9 and also NM. Any idea what year this relates to? I've seen some photos online on this model, usually with the different more familiar head badge.

A nice looking bike from the 1960's complete with Britannialloy pump by the looks of it, a bike worthy of restoration.

Thanks for the messages, I'm making some progress with the bike and will take a few more photos soon. Need to replace the hideous tektro brake at the front, I don't have some 66 calipers but some Weinmann ones will be a bit better. Yes good spot, the pump is indeed Britannialloy and now the inside has dried out seems to work fine:-)

Hi Warny, I've just joined the forum as I'm looking for info about my Gran Sport project bike - same colour as yours (underneath the rust!) with the same cyclist transfer on the seat tube, but mine is in much poorer condition. Have you come across an original parts list for this bike? I would like to know if, for example, the '27x1 1/4 Dunlop Special Lightweight' rims on 'BH Racelite' hubs are original.
I've attached a photo that will give you an idea of the current condition of mine.

Thanks for getting in touch, I've actually sold my Gran Sport now but enjoyed cleaning it up. I managed to get some Coureur 66 brake calipers for the front. The rims and hubs on yours I think will be original, do you have the campag gears on yours too? Just attaching a few more pics before the bike went off to it's new home in Kent:-)
