Raleigh Help Please

Can anyone give any info on this please? It seems to be a full Exage groupset.
Although some of the parts are a little rusty all seems to be working ok.
Is it worth giving a full going over? Are the parts of a decent quality?
Google not much help at all.

Very nice bike, special products division stuff are always worthwhile.
Exage would be around 1980?
@raleighnut and @midlife will give you more info about the frame number.

Hello and :welcome: to CC.

I think that groupset would be about mid-range; which surprises me a little given what it's fitted to.

As Cyclops says, SPD stuff's usually good.. although I'd place the groupset at the end of the '80s rather than the beginning.

From the colour and branding I reckon it's from the very end of the '80s / early '90s. Seems that as the company declined from their peak in 1987 the SPD stuff became a bit cheapened.

There's one on ebay apparently from 1994 that looks later and cheaper - with an Exage 300 groupset and unicrown fork.

Yours looks like a nice example though - definitely put the time in to sort it out

Good evening,
SBDU had closed by the time tthis was made. However, it did sort of morph into the SPD but with a lot of mystery.

There was a good SPD article on Denton Cycles website by retrobike user Originalshinkicker but is sadly no longer visible...

Is it still gone?

When the site was moved from the SBDUnnn domain to DentonCycles lots of pages disappeared behind a message saying You ned to login to Wordpress, but now they seem to be back.

As a side issue there is a very sad page where he says that he gave up in his site for a while because of negative posts
