This bike is nothing special. But it belonged to my father in law, who had a very impressive collection of vintage bikes - Paris-Rensch and Major Nicholls in particular, but lots of other stuff - and was something of a bicycle magpie. When he died suddenly back in 2021, most of his collection - including the prototype Paris Galibier he was planning to ride on the day he died - was sold off, and only this frame set remained in the garage.
I think he was building it up for one of the grandchildren, but it never got beyond a frame and wheels. I rescued it last year and donated it to Enviroability, where it sat in a corner for a year before I finally got around to gathering all the bits together and building it up.
It's not the world's best bike, by any means, and I've spent far longer on it than the likely sale price can justify, but I wanted to build this as a sort of quiet tribute to my father in law, Alvin.

That's a really meaningful project. The story behind a bike is what makes it special, not its price tag. Giving the Trax a second life as a tribute to Alvin is a perfect way to honour him. It's a keeper with real heart.
