Has anyone had any dealings with the above bike. Going to get a decent winter/commuting bike on the bike 2 work scheme. It is between the raliegh and the giant defy 0. I know the defy is the better bet on paper but I like the old school look on the Raleigh, but don't want to buy it based just on that if the rest isn't great.

I'm a SRAM shifter fan and it's a good colour, on those two I'd definitely had it over the Giant. 8.7kg is nice and light for an alu bike too. Unlikely to see as many on the road either

For a winter commuter, you'd want to check it's mudguard and potentially pannier rack wearing capabilities

Go ride it, see what YOU think

Thanks. Both bikes have pros and cons, but one of the big cons for me with the giant is there are so many about. Thanks for the advice, just need to ride them now.

Doesn't look especially old-school to me.

I think most of the current Raleigh range look good aesthetically and spec-wise, and that Militis has a great paint-job. I didn't even consider Giant when making my choice as they're ubiquitous in these parts, and pretty damn ugly generally. The Militis though - isn't it a bit aggressive a ride for a winter commuter?! You must be a much better rider than me and have better roads where you live if you're planning on riding that through the worst of a British winter :cold:

I have the Miltis race 2013 spec with Sram Force, its a cracking bike, full carbon frame/steerer and quick. Not so sure I would want it for winter, crud guards only as well. Mine is very light even with out any additional additions, frame is about 800g I believe.

Photo looks like a carbon Raleigh Millitis model which would be above the C2W scheme threshold.

Which model is it ?

Edit.

Ahh, yes it is the Alu Elite as per Title...

Hard to tell the Carbon from the Alu Raleighs with that funky fresh finish.

Looks very nice & the frame at 1200g for Alu is very light too.

Some C2W schemes have a higher threshold if the company has a consumer credit licence (up to 2.5k IIRC)
