I`ve got a Raleigh Oakland that i`ve been using for commuting to work for a couple of years now and i was going to try and go for a couple of over nighters with panniers etc , With the idea of using it for a longer week away !

The question is , Is it the bike for touring or should i be looking for something more specialist ?

Any help would be greatly adjusted !

Hi lofty,

I'd say that if you are comfortable with the bike then yes it will be fine, if after your initial few over nighters you feel the bike isn't suitable
then maybe you will need to look for something else.

Should be ok . Try loading the weight you intend to carry on the rear carrier rack and see how it rides. If I pack too much into the panniers on my hybrid the steering gets a bit light and twitchy,
