Hi guys! I bought the frame off eBay for my 30th because it was about the same age as me... and have spent the last 5 years building it up. I saw super record was an option off the peg so have been loading it up - what do you think?

Very nice but five years, why did it take so long?

Welcome to the forums
Just time (been building a few modern bikes) and getting my head around the spec I wanted, model numbers etc took ages. Eg the wheels are NOS Mavic GP4 Alloy Sprint, on refurbed and polished 1035 Nuovo Record High Flange 28h front and back, with titanium quick release 4013. Soo sawweeetttt looking lol.

Very nice.
What derailleurs are you going to get?

Welcome:smile:

I’ve actually got them! Need to do some updated photos - picked up:
Front Dérailleur: NOS (except for the band which I want to get polished) Campagnolo 1052/SR, Super Record (3 hole) with the black trim/arm

Rear Derailleur: Campagnolo 4001 Super Record (need to check if it’s first or second gem, I think first?)

Does anyone have any advice about which ferrules to use in the brake lever hoods?

I’ve got a pair of Campagnolo 4062, Super Record post-'83 and the bit where they fit seem both too wide and has a very deep spherical base/inlay... I’ve bought maybe 15 different attempts at the right size ferrule (that also takes the wider old Italian cables) and had a half sphere shaped base with not much luck!? Is this something I should do a separate post about?

I have a couple of Raleighs and find that they are nice to ride.

Apart from a borrowed Mk1 Chopper as a youngster (they really were terrible handling things, especially at speed), I've never yet encountered a proper, non-toy, Raleigh that wasn't a good riding bike. Most of my current bikes are 80's and 90's era Raleighs.

Here are the latest additions; including pearlescent Benotto bar tape, Oro Record drilled gold chain, front and read derraileurs

Oh and in the end I gave up finding the right ferrules (after ordering over 20 different sizes and looking to get some visiting made) and treated myself to some NOS Casiraghi ( Campagnolo type ) Pearl White Brake cableset. Bang on period, perfect fit and I think they look AWESOME!
