FWIW we live near the Grand Union but further south and ride on the tow path. I don't know what it is like in MK but it certainly isn't smooth in our neck of the woods. My wife has a caprice and runs the tyres a bit on the soft side, I ride a 20kg Tesco full suspension BSO discarded by my son. I'm planning to buy a new bike in the near future and, while I've been tempted by the Halfords Carrera Vengeance, I think I'll try for something my lbs may have in a few months time.

Its not to bad around MK, think British Waterways or whatever it is now called had a bit of competition from the excellent cycleways around MK. I haven't enough exerience to make a judgement on the quality of the Carrera but found lots of info and help from other members of this site on the bike I finaly chose. Hopefully you will be all set for the coming balmy springtime....

Just waiting for the mud to dry! It was really bad New Years Eve, but last Tuesday was a lot better.
