At the moment My Raleigh Pioneer Venture Touring Bike has got Tektro cantilevers Brake Calipers: is it possible to change them to Shimano alloy V-bakes
As Zoiders, but why?
Cantis, if set up right are good enough in most situations.
If you want to improve your braking, consider getting better brake pads - Koolstops, Swisstop or Fibrax
Yes they are Oryx brakes, in that case I will leave them as they are and buy better pads.+1
They look like Oryx brakes. I found with mine the OEM pads were useless so I switched for some decent v-brake cartridge pads. The difference in braking power was like night and day
You can buy a full set of Tektro levers and V brakes for under £20
The levers will then have the correct mechanical advantage to operate the V brakes.
I have a Pioneer Elite of the same vintageAhhh... this Venture is not a flat bar like my old Raleigh Pioneer from the 90s
True - finicky work with STi road levers, ime.Modern cantis work very well from what I've seen on the Specialized Tricross, they have to be correctly set up though.
