Hi, has anyone else got a Raleigh Spirit bike? I got a relatively new one and it clicks when I'm riding it in 2nd or 3rd gear. 1st gear is fine. I took it back to the shop (twice) and they're convinced there's nothing wrong with it, that it's the type of gear system....but I would've noticed it when I first bought it and I'm convinced it wasn't doing it then (it's quite loud). I feel I've been fobbed off. Anyone else had the same? Tia J

Have you got the Sram or Sturmey Archer (SA) gears? They certainly should not be doing that. Are you sure its gears? Can you take it to someone locally that specialises in hub gears? Alternatively take it back to where you bought it.
Sorry I can't be more helpful, maybe someone else has a better suggestion.

Hi there...without wanting to sound completely ignorant...I haven't a clue! Good idea, there is someone local I can take it to have a look. It really doesn't sound right to me.

Just looked at the spec, and it has Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub gears. They do click/tick not so much in 2nd but they do in 3rd. It is normal. As long as the gear changing is OK, there is nothing to worry about.
