Ok... I don't want to start a fight. I know passions run high when the R word is mentioned. I don't really want a debate on whether they're overpriced or what brand's better than what. I'd just like some advice on the Rapha Classic bib shorts versus the Rapha Pro Team bib shorts.

On sizing I evaluate that I'm at the big end of a medium pair in the classics. I.e. I'm 32" waist, 6ft, and 11 and a half stone. The Pro Team supposedly have a tight fit so would I need to go up a size if I opted for those? Does anyone have experience of both?

I need a short for long days in the saddle hence why I'm opting for the Rapha. Is there a view on which of the two would be more suitable than the other or are they both equal in the comfort stakes?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I have the classic bibs and the pro team thermal bibs both in size XL. The pro teams are a little tighter fit but not enough to need to go up a size. I like the slightly tighter feel of the pro teams. The pad in both bibs is excellent, I've cycled 100+ mile rides in both pairs in total comfort.
Both bibs would be ideal for day long rides but I'd say go for the pro teams, they are fantastic bibs.

Cheers for the replies guys.
I ended up with the Pro Team and I went for large... and I'm glad I did. They are very snug... compression like on the thighs and cause a little hunch when walking. Which in my experience is fine as they're designed for a cycling position not a walking one. They'll get a proper test run on Monday as I'm hammering out a century that morning. I'll report back in case anyone is interested.

That's the acid test. Hunch = good shorts, no hunch = should have bought better shorts. Same goes for jerseys, if there isn't a realistic chance of your belly button being on show when you stand upright, then it's not a good cut!
