What's everybody got against lovely lovely salad cream? Bernard Thevenet said it was an essential part of his training regime and had one bidon filled with the stuff when he won the 1977 Tour de France.*


Yes, poached in a saucepan with white wine vinegar.

Fine on chips, tuna sandwiches and mashed boiled egg sarnies but too strong on delicately cooked poached or fried eggs imho..

I used to love Bovril on a poached egg. Never tried salad cream on them, but I'm eager to buy a tube on the way home, I'd almost forgotten salad cream existed what with all the mayonnaise craze for the last 20 years.
