It would have been far more interesting without Vingegaard.
'Second' rate but a closer fight.

It feels indicative that the two most exciting races at the moment are MSR and Roubaix, because they're probably the only races left where there is any uncertainty about the outcome.

Let's not forget 2006 when Basso won by about a day and a half from a 75kg 'climber' known as the buffalo. A rising doping tide may have lifted all boats but it didn't make for great racing.

Ah a vintage year. Dr Fuentes does for Fat Jan’s Giro even before the start. Basso goes all choirboy. Phonak’s buffolo beats Gibo, the Little Prince and the Falcon taking that second step.
He then passed the Phonak baton for the Tour to one Floyd Landis. Lucky for them that Tyler Hamilton was clean………..

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
Exactly half way through the Giro I realised that no one was talking about the Intergiro competition.

It (re) appeared last year or the year before. And now it has disappeared again. Maybe it disappeared last year and I didn't notice.

I wonder if the low interest rate is due to a lack of UK riders? We were spoiled during the Sky years.
Probably would have held more interest if Yates had remained.

I certainly gets an extra point here in Denmark for both Vingegaard joining the other 7 winners of all three GTs and Valgren winning a stage

That said, I only scored it a 5, for the reasons everyone's already given.

I did really enjoy a couple of stages - Valgren's win was raced as a classic for the last 50 or 60km, full on. The Rubio/Ciccone beef was fun as well - hope it gets a reprise in other races
