Accy - 'dodgy Keith' appears to specialise in cars with dodgy engines. Lots of Ford 1.0 Ecoboost and Pug/Citroen 1.2 Puretech engines there, both of which have major reliability issues.

If you'd like to go round town in a white Mini with the roof down, then fine. But surely you'd need something a bit more appropriate:

Nonsense! A man of distinction needs something befitting of his status - besides Accy's a Fiat sort of fellow.

Behold the new steed:

Accy is a Mazda MX5 too impractical for you? If you could get a Mk3 NC or the later one if you could afford it, it would be a lot better car than that is. The only issue with those is rust, but get a cherished one and you're onto a winner. Just the most reliable convertible I can think of, or maybe an S2000, but they're stupid money and a fair bit faster. I'd rather keep the Fiat than than that mini.

@Cletus Van Damme yes an mx5 or an s2000 would be good choices especially if they come with service history and not too abused , although how could you not abuse an s2000 .

For me the thought of replacing our current Nissan note scares me as there's not a lot that appeal to me especially when you start doing research

I've owned both and much (but a lot much) preferred the MX5. The pony that was the S2000 had only one trick, and that tired very quickly (although interestingly, they aren't really very quick)

Only a short drive in an mx5 myself and certainly not enough to pass judgement on, quite a few miles in an s2000 mostly with hood down and covered in advertising as it was a company car so had to be sensible and certainly couldn't afford for it being seen acting like a hooligan .

But it's a lovely engine that just wants to rev like other Honda's with the performance v-tec set up

It does, but I tired of it really quickly - I really wanted to like it, but just didn't. I used to be a much keener driver than today and when I got a new car I used to do a journey I called 'popping to the bookshop' The bookshop in question is in Machynlleth and I lived near Bicester, so it was a fair drive.
The S2000 was the least satisfying, most tiring car I ever did it in because on the twisty bits I'd have to be holding it in second at c5k rpm around a corner in the hope that on the next straight there was an overtaking opportunity, just because power came in so late. I know some people love that, but it wasn't for me. I actually sold it after about 4 months - but on the bright side I got back what I'd paid for it, and I bought a 996 next

Incidentally, the best on the bookshop run was a Clio Trophy, which was all sorts of brilliant.

Here's the bookshop, just in case anyone wants a drive: https://www.anglebooks.com/

Why do you want to change, or do you fancy a change ? I don't get cabrio's - heavier, generally handle worse, and, if it's hot, I crank up the A/C. You can hear your tunes better, rather than having wind noise ! Also not worries with a roof going tatty if you don't clean it properly.

More fancy a change than want to change I'd say. I've had my Fiat 500c for 3 and a half years now, so I might be getting slightly bored with it. 🤔 Things about it are starting to annoy me. Those grey alloy front wheels are filthy after a few days of them being cleaned at the car wash, whereas the Mini Roadster's wheels are black alloy, hiding the muck. My Fiat is raining in again, after the mechanic stopped the last leak. This time it's coming through the same place I think, but now wetting the right side of the foot well instead of the left. Every day I have to put lots of paper towels down to soak the rain up overnight. Some days the paper towels are soaking, meaning lots of rain is getting in! Most of the warning lights are on all the time. They've been like that now going on for a year. I read that it's a computer error that costs many hundreds to rectify, then if I pay for that to be mended something else will go wrong. My Fiat's 'ivory white' roof is filthy from tree sap and just all the shite that lands on it, whereas the Mini's roof is black, so it wont show much shite, apart from bits of green mold. I'd miss the Fiat's off white leather steering wheel and dash as its far more aesthetically pleasing than boring grey or black. My Fiat is also bad over bumps and potholes! I can feel everything, and get thrown from side to side on some very bumpy roads, hurting my dodgy hip. I fancy the 'luxurious' interior of BMW Minis as I had one before my Fiat, though it was a bum to fire up in 5 Celsius and below as it was a crappy diesel one. I'm not that keen on the black plastic over the Mini's wheel arches and sills as to me they cheapen the look, but they do protect the metal against knocks and scratches. I like the silver colour of the Mini. I'm not a fan of grey, but it does actually look silver, not grey, making it look quite classy. The Mini is a Roadster, but a 4 seater one, unlike most Roadster, so I can out lots of crap/hoarding stuff on the back seats. It's also not as long from windscreen to the front numberplate as most Roadster which are so long I wouldn't be able to park them, unless it's a very big gap. I'm going to have a look at it tomorrow and ask for a test drive, if it's still there that is. I'll phone 'dodgy Keith' before setting off, asking if he still has the car and if so to move it onto the road for me as no way can I get a car out off their packed forecourt! I'll give it a test drive, then think about it after. He's OK with test drives, letting me have it for an hour or so, without him coming with me, which is good as most potential car buying customers don't want the seller hassling them on a test drive.

I saw similar but smaller for sale online the other day. I think it was an Austin Healey or something like that. It was made in 1955 and was a typical metal box of the day, without seat belts, carpets etc and a very thin steering wheel, with the wing mirrors about 3 foot away from the driver. It was about 7 and a half thousand quid. OK for spring/summer afternoon/evening drives, but not very practical in our icy, wet winters. The tyres looked so narrow as well.😉
