A friend of my was late for college when Bohemian Rhapsody came on the radio. He stayed in the car and waited for it to finish while singing along. When he went into the lecture hall the teacher asked why he was late. He replied " one does not simply get out the car and leave when Bohemian Rhapsody comes on the radio". The teacher smiled and said "carry on". He didn't get a late mark.

college seems to have got a bit police state since i was there

getting there at all was considered a successful day back then

College was seen as an interruption to drinking time in my FE days.

Things got much worse when I got to university - I'd go whole weeks without leaving the pub for a lecture.
