I mentioned to SWMBO the other day that, assuming all goes well, I was considering buying my N+1 in a couple of months time.
"Which one you getting rid of then?" was the response....

Cue discussion about space, 4 bikes is too many etc etc, so I figured a review of the fleet.

Current:

Boardman MTB, little used, but a must keep for shopping and muddy rides with the kids.
Trek hybrid, very nice, racked out and a lovely long distance ride machine.
Trek road. My first 'toe dip' into road cycling, and one up from their base machine. Simple, basic, gets ridden lots.

Proposed:

Boardman MTB
Specialised Roubaix (the N+1 I'm hankering after)
Something CX:- Looking at either the well known Boardman CX Comp, or similarly priced Raleigh RX Elite
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/raleigh-rx-elite-cross-sora-2014/ which I can't find a great deal about, but is something a little different. Anybody got one?

I think 4 bikes is the minimum, and I don't even have a MTB (well I do but it's old and in bits):
  1. Road Bike
  2. Best Road/Race/TT Bike
  3. Winter Road Bike
  4. Tourer/MTB/CX/Hacker
I'm currently considering N+1 to become number 2 on that list.

My stable will soon be:
Carbon roadbike
Steel roadbike (as good as the carbon, in fact a better groupset)
Single speed
Fast(ish) flatbar commuter shopping hack

That's enough for me (I'll need to order a bigger Asgard bike shed)!

My "Wifey" answer would be flog the Trek roadster, keep the other two and get the Roubaix.

My "Cyclist" answer would be to hell with the wifey and get whatever your heart desires, I mean you only get one life!

I really like the look of the 2014 Boardmann CX Comp @cosmicbike

fancy one for myself but couldn't get it past SWMBO & not sure I actually need it, probably need a MTB more.

N+1 is probably 2 weeks away (cyclescheme farce almost complete)

 Cube Peloton Race 2014 for every day & training rides.

Sintesi Z2 for Sunny Sundays & sportives etc
