I have a Kindle Fire HD tablet. Over the last couple of years, I have acquired various apps, books, saved searches etc.
At some stage the tablet will need to be replaced and I wonder if there is any way to transfer this information to a new tablet, assuming it is not another Kindle?
If you should reply, may I remind you that I am a bit of a computer idiot, (and, possibly, in other areas, I'm told!!) so ultra simplicity please!

I'm not sure but I'm under the impression that you can't transfer to another non kindle tablet.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I very much doubt you can trabsfer apps as they'll be kindle apps. The books should transfer as you just need to log into your amazin account on any device that had a kindle app to synch your catalogue.

Easy Peasy

Technically most is stored on your "Cloud", so you just download again

However within the settings menu of "Silk" is "Device Options" This offers a Backup and Restore function.

The backup is automatically done daily providing the system is connected to the internet.

In theory with a new Kindle Fire, you just use the Restore option to mirror your previous one

However as Kindle uses a severely modified OS this will not restore to anything else.

The other option is to use a random "Cloud" and store docs and photos on there and download

PS it is worth noting that some books do not work on the apps.

IIRC any in the "free" Prime Library are not readable except on a Kindle

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
If you have a kindle account then yes, you can transfer your books and music to another tablet other than a kindle. Simply download the kindle books app from google, sign in with your amazon account and they can be downloaded from amazon cloud. Its the same with your Amazon music. And if you have prime and prime tv, then you can watch prime movies and series as well. It isn't difficult to do. You can even download apps from amazon store as well.

I've made the same move earlier this year to an Asus tablet., and it's exactly as welshie describes it. New tablet, download Amazon app, log in with you account details, and there's you library waiting for you on the cloud to download onto your new device.

Just checked.. it isn't in Silk as I remembered

It is in fact "Home Page", swipe down and select "Settings", then "Device Options" then "Backup and restore"

As above, apart from the sellotape and spoons

It's helpful once you've changed devices to go into your Amazon account settings on the website and specify which Kindle enabled device you want as the primary one, even if it is a phone, tablet etc, you can name it accordingly and that will be the one books automatically download to. If you are only using the one new device then I'd delete the old one in settings.
