After acclimatising to France, you ought to wear a long-arm base layer and tell everyone else how cool it is.

Except we just starting a heatwave in the UK. Wore two tops and was a bit overdressed as I went with group one and at times it was that fast, I thought I’d somehow strayed in to a road race.

Afternoon folks,
hope everyone is as well as can be expected given our advancing decrepitude. To answer Pinno’s question from last time i popped in, I’ve been moderately busy between work and family. New job is going well given it’s a very difficult time across the industry. We’ve picked up distribution for a couple of new suppliers, more in the pipeline. Old place is going to hell in a handcart faster than expected. I think that’s over 50 people laid off now. Unfortunately I would have been one of the last out so I’m very glad I jumped when I had the opportunity.
Family life is good, lads got a flat with his girlfriend up north, close to SunGod country I suspect.
Most of my riding has been on the old steel roadie preparing for the Eroica in a couple of months. Yesterday I discovered how Challenge tyres got their name, sore thumbs today. Don’t trust myself with repairing tubs yet.

tub repair is pretty easy, just a few bits needed to do it, keep at least one unrepairable tub to use for repair (bits of carcass) then you'll have it the day you need it

i haven't repaired any for a while, but keep the viable veloflex ones for the day i'm in the mood - they stopped making them, so one day i'll run out of unused ones

Thunderstorms later?

Sadly not forecast in the next week, even though the wind's from the south. It gives a good excuse to stop by lunchtime and laze à la sungod

Managed 75km ride with the OH , she enjoyed it as she was way off in front and up the hills first, whilst I puffed along behind. Clearly the effects of the bug haven't worn off yet or I've aged 10 years in 6 weeks.
Thankfully not as warm as forecast as a bit cloudy , a pleasant 20c.

Nice to be back on a bike though.

Allo, allo, allo! Back from dirty weekend in Paignton. T'was wedding anniversary. 28 years! Marvellous. Lovely guest house. Fun on boats and trains and then drive over Dartmoor on way home and got stuck halfway across trying to move ponies and their foals from the road. Bribed them with Extra Strong Mints. Trouble is you move one and go back for another and the first one follows you back onto the road again with its foal! Damned fools!
