Caught a train to London this morning' parked the Brommie and sat next to another Brommie owner working furiously on a laptop. The screen was fairly clear for me to see and read. They were government documents, minutes if a housing committee meeting that were electronically watermarked as 'Officially Sensitive'.

Thank got it wasn't 'Top Secret' otherwise I'd have to kill myself.

Somehow this doesn't seem proper behaviour ....

Poor behaviour. There are screens that you can attach to the laptop screen which will restrict the viewing angle, and therefore prevent this sort of thing.

It isn't. And I would have suggested to them that it wasn't appropriate. AFAIK all Govt Depts issue guidelines on how to prevent sensitive information being overlooked.

You never know who's looking and/or listening.

On a rare occasion when I first moved into a sales position I decided to take the train along with our sales Director from Birmingham into Central London to see a prospect for a final meeting to discuss terms, We also knew from the prospect that our immediate competitor was doing the same that afternoon. The mouthy chap talking rather loudly about his meeting that afternoon was sat diagonally from us, yep, our competitor, I knew him but he had no idea who we were... we obviously got the business.

Before the general election, I was on a train heading up towards Luton, and a round chap, a bit like Eric Pickles, who clearly was working for the Tories, was rabbiting away on his phone in a loud voice with detailed information concerning the results of their internal polling on how things might go, and "David's reaction" to XYZ bit of news and so on.

"Officially Sensitive" isn't a classification worth worrying about.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
People just don't think, or realise. We're just launching an internal communication campaign on this very subject.

@rvw was on a train once opposite a lairy 17-year-old boy who was on the phone to his mate (loudly) in the quiet carriage about how he'd got blasted last night (or something similar). She tapped him on the knee and said "How do you know I'm not a friend of your mother's?"

He looked suitably chastised.
