Now I know us men are prone to the worse type of cold, man cold. And as we all know it to be fact that it can be life threatening to all us males, but for some reason its just a niggle to woman, they have a natural immunity.
It seems I have flu, I mean real flu, not the flu we hear everyone say they have when they come to work and tell us all about it, but the flu where you cant move without it hurting all over and the feeling of not wanting to move in the first place. Oh woa is me, I only hope it doesnt turn into man flu, now that would be lethal. ;)

That's not real flu; you wouldn't be able to post a post of such inordinate length if it was. ;)

Get better soon. I had it this year (real flu that is) and it's a pig.

You have my sympathies. I had that before Christmas. I have heard the difference between a bad cold and real flu described as follows - if you see a tenner blowing about in your gardern, witha cold, you'd go out and pick it up, with flu, you couldn't be bothered.

Seriously; if you had proper 'flu you wouldn't be on your computer and you certainly wouldn't be contemplating going out to the doc's. I've had bad colds which have made me feel rotten and once in my life I had 'flu - I went to bed and slept for about 4 days, alternately sweating and shivering. The only time I've felt as bad was when I got serious food poisoning from some ice cream in Pakistan.

Iv been in bed the last couple of days, getting up now and then just to do things that are needed;) Im going to the docs as the pains are getting worse and needed help by MLML to get up this morning. Sitting here is a relief in some ways,as i cant find a comfortable painfree position when im lying down, and breathing is a tad difficult when lying too. The doc suspects glandular fever with my wife a week ago, im wondering if iv caught this too? Again she was nowhere near as bad as I am, must be man illness what ever it is.

Glandular fever will make you tired all the time rather than ache and pain (well it did for me) It caught up with me on holiday one year and when I got home I went to sleep on Monday and did not wake up until Wednesday  . Took months to shift however I believe that I was lucky as in some cases it can last a lot longer.

That'll be 'Mr Flu' that you had then Chris...

Just as an indication how bad it was, my temperature was 103 and after 24 hours I started being sick (my body has an aversion to high temperatures). Doctor had to come and inject me with an anti-sickness drug. And it was just the flu not a stomach bug. Took 4-5 days to feel reasonably normal again.

Just took my temp after reading your post Chris, because of head aches when coughing thought i would be up a little, strange thing is im 34.9, not what i expected, so ill try again.

36.4, must have been a bad take first of all, slightly puzzled as normal and feel like this?

I've only had flu once and it knocked me for six. My wife laughed at me when I said I couldn't go to work but she went to her work. In the evening she came home feeling rough and by the next morning also had the real flu. Took me a week to be able to get around again and it took her even longer. I wouldn't wish that on anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had real flu for the millenium, lost a week of time, due to starting a new job went in to work when wouldn't normally. They thought they'd hired a 'pup' and I reckon it was over 2 months before I felt fit again. My wife came down with it shortly after me. She was pregnant at the time and couldn't take any medication. She has no recollection of Xmas day whatsoever and only vaguely remembers New Year. She took even longer to recover than I did, no surprise considering the pregnancy.

I've just left £1,000 in used £10 notes for you, attached to your garden gate. It's in an envelope marked "***FREE MONEY INSIDE - PLEASE TAKE IT!***"

Did you go and look? If you did, you haven't got flu! I've had it once and I don't want it again! Barely having the strength to pick up the bucket to vomit into, and as for the crawling across the floor to the bog before the next bout of squits... ;)

The last time I had flu (proper flu) I just wanted the world to get on with ending and leave me alone. I was in bed and lost to the world for quite a few days. Anything less and it just means I snot a lot in my dust mask when I'm in the workshop.
